A September Wedding Full of Culture, Colour, and Laughs
Some wedding days start with tears, some with hugs ,and some, like Tiffany and David’s, begin with door games, laughter, and pure joy. Their fall wedding was one for the books. From the early morning cultural traditions to a stunning ceremony at The Hamptons Golf Club and a lively reception at Regency Palace in Calgary's Chinatown, every moment was filled with personality, heritage, and love.
We started the day early really early. As a wedding photographer in Calgary familiar with traditional Asian wedding customs, I was excited the moment I saw “door games” on their timeline. For those unfamiliar, it’s a Chinese tradition where the groom and his groomsmen must “pass” a series of challenges set by the bridesmaids before he can see his bride. Let’s just say, Tiffany’s bridesmaids weren’t letting David off easy.
The games were hilarious. From awkward dances to spicy food to silly quizzes, the groomsmen gave it their all. And David? With his naturally playful personality, he turned every challenge into a performance. It was only 9 a.m., but it already felt like we were halfway through the reception—that’s how much energy there was.
Tiffany, in her traditional red qipao, looked stunning. She was every bit the glowing bride before she even put on her white gown. Once we arrived at The Hamptons Golf Club, the outdoor ceremony space felt like it had been waiting for her. The late September sun gave us those warm, golden tones that I always recommend to couples this month truly brings out the best light for wedding photography in Calgary.
Later that evening, the celebration continued at Regency Palace Restaurant. The atmosphere? Loud, joyful, family-focused, and full of amazing food. Between the speeches, laughter, and chopsticks clinking on plates, it felt like a giant reunion of everyone who had ever loved Tiffany and David.
From emotional first looks to goofy couple portraits (thanks to David’s endless humour, every part of their wedding day reflected exactly who they are fun, family oriented, and full of heart.
