Romantic Hanbok Pre-Wedding at Rawson Lake | Best Wedding Photographer Calgary


As one of the best wedding photographers in Calgary, I always feel incredibly honoured when Korean couples reach out to me for their pre-wedding sessions in Alberta. Recently, I had the joy of working with Ben and Cathy, a couple who decided to embrace their heritage and wear traditional hanbok for their engagement shoot at Rawson Lake, one of Alberta’s hidden gems in the Rockies.


A Love Story Rooted in Tradition and Nature

Ben and Cathy have been together for many years, and their decision to get married came after a long journey of love, growth, and shared dreams. When they mentioned bringing a hanbok for their session, I was thrilled. It's not every day you get to combine the elegance of traditional Korean clothing with the majestic scenery of the Canadian Rockies.

As a Banff wedding photographer, I’ve shot at many beautiful locations, but Rawson Lake has a serene, untouched charm that makes every frame feel magical. That day, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, and it felt as though nature itself was celebrating with us.


From Camera-Shy to Confident

At first, Ben and Cathy were a little shy in front of the camera. Like many couples, they weren’t used to being photographed. But as we began shooting, they gradually relaxed and started to focus on one another rather than the lens. I encouraged them to simply be themselves—to walk, talk, laugh, and hold each other close. Before long, their love took center stage, and every image began to reflect their unique bond.

Located not far from Calgary and Banff, Rawson Lake is one of my favourite locations for engagement and elopement sessions. Its peaceful waters, mountain backdrop, and gentle forest trails make it ideal for couples seeking quiet beauty.
