A Rainy Day, a Beautiful Love: Melissa & Van’s Calgary Engagement Session

These two have been together for over three years, growing their relationship slowly and meaningfully. When we met for their engagement session in downtown Calgary, the skies opened up, and the rain began to fall. But instead of postponing, Melissa and Van wanted to go ahead — a beautiful reminder that love doesn't wait for perfect weather. We walked through some of Calgary’s most iconic downtown streets, making stops near some of their favourite spots. As a couple who loves running together, it was clear they felt completely at ease moving side by side. They didn’t need much direction — they naturally gravitated toward the spaces they loved, and their expressions, laughter, and body language told their story effortlessly. Even with the rain, the vibe was lighthearted and romantic. Whether I were photographing them near Calgary Central Library or ducking under awnings to share a laugh, every moment felt genuine. I loved how they didn’t focus on perfection — instead, they chose to live fully in the moment.


Their engagement session is a reminder that some of the best images come from just being present, rain or shine.
